Message from Sheriff Wayne Ivey
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – As everyone knows over the course of the past 11 years, the crime rate in Brevard County has decreased by almost 52% and without question our Community Relations and Crime Prevention Units have been a huge part of that success as they work everyday to partner with our citizens to help keep our community safe.
In fact, last year Brevard County had fewer victims of crime than any time in the past 45 years and that success is a direct result of the relationship and partnership we have built with our citizens, to give them vital crime prevention information before they become a victim and not after.
Our Crime Prevention Unit and Community Relations Team attends home owner meetings, civic clubs, churches, schools, organizations, and various events each week, while providing our citizens with crime prevention information so they can be the first line of defense for them, their families, and their businesses.
Events like Saturday’s “Space Coast Heroes Unite Vendor and Car Show” that was held at the brand new Pint and Pistol Gun Range and was hosted by Space Coast Cars and Coffee, are a great opportunity for us to share crime prevention information with our citizens, while also getting to know them and further building our relationships with the community.
I could not be more proud of Corporal Jay Martinez or “Jay From The Sheriff’s Office” as we like to call him, and his entire team for all they do to help keep our citizens and community safe.
From attending events, to crime prevention messaging around the county, to working special events hosted by the Sheriff’s Office, this unit is getting it done and helping keep our citizens safe.
