China-US youth exchange camp launched in Guangzhou


As this year marks the 45th anniversary of the establishment of the China-U.S. diplomatic ties, Guangzhou, capital of south China’s Guangdong Province, has launched the China (Guangzhou)-U.S. Youth Sports and Cultural Exchange Camp, bringing together students from both countries.

The program, themed “Friends coming from afar”, aims to enhance friendship between young people in China and the United States, and promote their exchanges and cooperation in fields such as culture, sports and education.

The eight-day program runs until Wednesday. During their visit to Guangzhou, U.S. students have paired up with their Chinese counterparts to experience the charm of the city. They visited schools and a botanical garden, participated in various of physical activities such as practicing Chinese martial arts, and learned about Chinese culture and history.

China’s software and information technology service industry reported double-digit growth in revenue and profits in the first four months of this year, official data shows.

Revenue of the sector expanded 11.6 percent year on year to 3.8 trillion yuan (about 530 billion U.S. dollars) in the period, while profits grew by 14.3 percent from a year ago to 431.4 billion yuan (about 60.68 billion U.S. dollars), according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

From January to April, revenue from software products maintained steady growth, reaching 912.7 billion yuan (about 128.39 billion U.S. dollars), an increase of 8.7 percent year on year. This accounted for 24.1 percent of the total industry revenue.

Meanwhile, revenue from information technology services totaled 2,498.3 billion yuan (about 351.43 billion U.S. dollars) in this period, marking a year-on-year increase of 13.2 percent. It accounted for 65.9 percent of the total industry revenue.

Specifically, the combined revenue of cloud computing and big data services reached 410.7 billion yuan (about 57.77 billion U.S. dollars), with a year-on-year growth of 14.3 percent. This accounted for 16.4 percent of the total revenue from information technology services.
