Education is not a scam, Anambra Commissioner charges students on hard work, academic excellence – The Sun Nigeria

Anambra State Commissioner for Power and Water Resources, Engr Julius Mmelikam Chukwuemeka has charged youths in various educational institutions to pursue their academic goals with determined vigour so as to succeed in their chosen endeavours.

Chukwuemeka who spoke while chairing the International Conference of the Department of History and International Studies , Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University , Igbariam Campus, Anambra State told the excited students never to succumb to the negative narrative that Education is a scam which some misguided elements in the society are propagating today.

“Some people have resorted to pursuing money by all means because they now think that education is a scam but I can tell you as a living example that education is not a scam. Work hard, go beyond the ordinary to extraordinary and by the grace of God, you will succeed and become the cynosure of all eyes in the society”

The Commissioner who is an alumnus of the university reminded the students that the value of being found worthy in character and learning as a graduate can lead one to greater heights in the society and urged them to see themselves as eagles that are known for distinct qualities among the crowd.

To encourage the students, the commissioner gave N50, 000 cash awards to four students and one session school fees to another who answered correctly some of the questions thrown by the compere during the conference.

Dean, School of Post Graduate Studies of the University, Prof. Moses Chendo who handed over the Award of Excellence bestowed on the Commissioner by the Department also lauded him for various groundbreaking achievements he has recorded in the Ministry of Power and Water Resources.

Prof Chendo recalled that Chukwuemeka bagged First Class during his convocation in the university and has also extended the provision of street lights in the university. He praised Governor Soludo for spotting young budding talents and bringing them on board his Solution Team which he noted has yielded tremendous success in the state.
