A former Coweta County student has been recognized by The National Society of High School Scholars for her superior academic performance.
Valerie M. Roberts, a former resident of Coweta County, began her academic journey at Welch Elementary School from 2012 to 2017 and continued at Lee Middle School from 2017 to December 2020.
She and her family later relocated to Canton, Ohio. She is currently a student at Jackson High School in Massillon, Ohio, and will graduate in 2026.
Roberts participates in JSA, an academy within her high school where she can take Advanced Placement classes, dance and choir.
The society recognizes top scholars who have demonstrated outstanding leadership, scholarship and community commitment, of which Roberts is one.
“On behalf of NSHSS and our co-founder Claes Nobel, a member of the family that established the Nobel Prizes, I am honored to recognize the hard work, passion and commitment that Valerie has demonstrated to achieve this exceptional level of academic excellence,” said James W. Lewis, NSHSS co-founder and president. “Valerie is now a member of a unique community of scholars – a community that represents our very best hope for the future.”
Kim Roberts, Valerie’s mother, proudly shared that her daughter’s time at Welch and Lee not only set her apart from other students in Ohio but also prepared her for a future that holds great promise. This recognition of Valerie’s academic excellence is a testament to the community’s commitment to nurturing and supporting its young scholars.
