SEOUL, Jun. 10 (Korea Bizwire) – In an effort to foster a culture of giving in daily life, LG Electronics announced on June 9 that it will operate Donation Kiosks to enable employees to easily engage in charitable activities.

The Donation Kiosks have been installed at the LG Twin Towers, as well as the company’s facilities in Pyeongtaek and Changwon, with plans to expand to all business sites in the future.

These kiosks serve as digital donation boxes. The kiosk screens display stories and intended uses of donations, such as supporting families in crisis, children facing food insecurity, or injured firefighters.

Employees can tap their employee ID cards on the kiosk, review the donation recipients, and contribute any amount from 1,000 won to 50,000 won without any limit on the number of donations.

The initiative was proposed by a joint effort between the LG Electronics Labor Union and the Junior Board, a voluntary representative body of office workers. LG Electronics directly manufactured the donation kiosks utilizing its LG Kiosk technology.

“Employees who wanted to participate in social contribution activities or found it inconvenient to find donation channels can now easily and conveniently donate through the donation kiosks,” said Son Myung-su, head of the LG Electronics Junior Board.

“We hope these donations can provide a little strength to those in need.”

Additionally, LG Electronics has been supporting underprivileged neighbors through its Donation Menu program since 2011.

The Donation Menu, offered at company cafeterias across the country on the second Wednesday of every even-numbered month, features cost-reduced meal options.

For each employee who chooses the Donation Menu, 500 won is accumulated.

As of last year, over 670,000 employees had participated in the program, accumulating approximately 300 million won.

The accumulated funds are used to provide Children’s Day gifts for children and adolescents with disabilities, as well as holiday gifts for low-income families.

Employees of LG Electronics’ customer service subsidiaries, such as Hi Plaza, which operates LG Best Shops, and Hi-M Solutek, responsible for system air conditioner service and maintenance, also engage in volunteer activities.

These include free meal services for local senior citizens and cleaning and inspecting air conditioners.
