Olympic trials: Kent hurdler Jack Green targets top two

“If I’m not in the top two we’ll have some issues and Malcolm will be a little upset with me.”

The Maidstone athlete added: “I’m going into the race to win and I’d be disappointed with second.

“But I can’t be too disappointed if that gets me to an Olympic Games.”

Green is aiming to put recent disappointment, when he hit seven hurdles in the Diamond League meeting in Oslo earlier this month,, external behind him in Birmingham.

“You’ve got to go for it,” he said. “I’m a positive person anyway and and am confident in my own ability. Sometimes I hit hurdles but you don’t even think about it.”

Meanwhile Green says training with Welshman Greene has helped to raise the level of his performances.

“Last year I was well below him on ability and he really helped me with that side of things,” Green continued.

“He’s the world champion and the best in the world so I know where I need to be. If I’m ahead of him in training, then brilliant.”
