Rev. Merrow of St. Mary’s to receive ethical-leadership honor

The Leadership Center of Arlington has selected the Rev. Andrew T.P. Merrow to receive the 2024 Torch Award for Ethical Leadership, presented by Dominion Energy.

“Rev. Merrow is a steadfast example of leading with integrity and kindness,” said Lisa Fikes, president and CEO of the Leadership Center of Arlington, in announcing the award. “For decades, he has set a high standard for all ages to value community outreach, recognizing the power of offering time, talent and treasure to those in need.”

Since 1985, Merrow has served the Arlington community, both as a leader at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church and through his extensive involvement with various community-based organizations.

Through his role at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, Merrow has inspired hundreds of parish and community members to engage in service. This includes spearheading the church’s commitment to allocate 25 percent of its annual operating budget to community outreach, positively impacting thousands of individuals and families.

In addition to his leadership role at St. Mary’s, Merrow has served in leadership roles for several safety-net organizations, including the Arlington Free Clinic’s Community Council and on the board of directors of the Arlington Partnership for Affordable Housing, Culmore Clinic and Virginia Theological Seminary.

The award will be presented at the Leadership Center of Arlington’s 2024 Leadership Summit, to be held May 16. For information on the event, see the Website at leadercenter.org/summit.
