Having additional needs in any capacity, such as a physical disability or an invisible condition, may put students off from considering studying abroad.
However, there is a range of scholarships for students with additional needs that could help fund their study abroad journey.
This is not a complete list because new scholarships are being created all the time, but will hopefully give you a push in the right direction of where to start looking for financial aid.
Most universities will also have their own scholarships or grants in place for incoming international students with disabilities so it is always worth checking with them what support they can offer.

US and Canada
Google Lime Scholarship – The Google Lime Scholarship supports students with disabilities who wish to pursue studies in the field of computer science. This scholarship is open to international students looking to study at postgraduate or undergraduate level in the US or Canada. Selected students will receive US$10,000 or C$5,000 for the school year.
AG Bell College Scholarship – Hard of hearing or deaf students can apply for a AG Bell College Scholarship to receive funding to study at a university in the US. Both undergraduates and postgraduates are eligible to apply. The awards range between $1,500-$2,500 per student.
Microsoft Disability Scholarship – High school students with a passion for technology can apply for a Microsoft Disability Scholarship. Students will receive and annual award of up to $5,000 for four consecutive years. Students of any nationality can apply.
1800 Wheelchair scholarship – This scholarship offers students who are enrolled at a university in the US a $500 reward.
AAHD Frederick J. Krause Scholarship on Health and Disability – Scholarships of up to $1,000 are awarded to students pursuing undergraduate or postgraduate study at a university in the US.
Allegra Ford Thomas Scholarship – This scholarship is awarded to students with either a learning difficulty or ADHD studying at a two-year community college or a technical or vocational training programme.
Europe
Snowden Trust – The Snowden Trust provides funding for students with a physical or sensory impairment to study at a college or university in the UK. The grant amount available is up to £5,000. Students of any nationality can apply, as well as those with refugee status.
Google Europe Scholarship for Students with Disabilities – This scholarship provides a €7,000 award for disabled students to help them pursue studies in computer science.
Australia and New Zealand
The June Opie Scholarship – This scholarship is open to residents of Canada, Australia and New Zealand and supports students with a physical disability who wish to pursue postgraduate education.
Alastair McEwin AM Scholarship at the University of Adelaide – Students with a disability undertaking a programme of study at the University of Adelaide can apply for a $3,000 annual scholarship.
Sir Charles Bright Scholarship – These scholarships are available for students across Adelaide and South Australia. The scholarships are awarded to students with a disability and amount to AUD$2,000 per student.
The Walter and Eliza Hall Trust Opportunity Scholarship – This scholarship offers up to AUD$10,000 for a year to study at a range of institutions across Australia, including James Cook University, Monash University and the University of Sydney.
