Wheeling, W.Va. (WTRF) – One local resident, well known for his generosity and service to the community, is leaving behind a legacy that will help many area families get back on their feet.
On Tuesday, the Estate of Edward Klash of Weirton presented a check of over $89,000 to Catholic Charities of Wheeling.
Klash worked as an electrician at Weirton Steel Company. He is a Weir High graduate and attended St Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, where he served as an usher.
When he passed, Klash made contributions to several local and national organizations that help those in need.
“He wanted to help other people that were less fortunate than him. He left a great legacy not only for this community but also the national community.”
Ruth Anne Foutty, Trustee, Edward Klash Estate
“We are so grateful for Ruth Anne and to Ed for leaving this legacy. It will help so many people. We will use it for our Hospitality House, here in Wheeling, where we provide transitional housing.”
Katie Klug, Chief Mission Officer, Catholic Charities Wheeling
The Hospitality House allows families, in need, to stay under one roof for a 3-6 month period. During that time they are able to receive services including daycare for children and employment assistance for adults.
