The Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) Program is a New Jersey state-legislated support program that provides access to higher education for students who demonstrate the potential to succeed in college. Students who possess a high level of academic motivation and qualify for admission on the basis of academic and financial need, will receive a grant that is part of their financial aid package. EOF students will participate in a range of programs designed to support their success in college, including a pre-college summer bridge program and academic/personal counseling.

The EOF Experience
The EOF Experience consists of a collaboration of services, programs, and individuals dedicated to helping students at Bloomfield College become successful, engaged and well-oriented members of the campus community. Students will participate in the following features of the program:
- Five-week residential Pre-College Summer Bridge Program.
- Individual and group counseling (academic, personal, financial and career).
- Social and civic engagement activities including monthly group unity meetings.
- Career Development Based Programs (internships, job shadowing, mock interviewing etc.)
- Peer Mentoring programs to assist first year students.
- Legacy of Leaders celebration to celebrate the student leaders on campus.
- Pride Day celebration to recognize students’ academic achievements.
- Leadership Empowerment Series/Workshops.
- Individual and group professional tutors to help students become stronger academically.
- Motivational Student Support Program (MSSP) sessions to help students study in groups.
- Positive Academic Student Support (P.A.S.S) program to help students enhance their academic growth
The program has a limited number of spaces and is filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Eligibility Requirements
To participate in the Bloomfield College Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) program, students must provide appropriate documentation and meet the following eligibility requirements. Please carefully read through all the criteria carefully, each applicant will be looked upon on a case by case basis:
- Must submit a Bloomfield College Application, high school transcript and two letters of recommendation. SAT and/or ACT scores are optional.
- Must complete an EOF Application.
- Must meet the academic criteria set by the EOF Program and Bloomfield College.
- Must be a New Jersey resident for 12 consecutive months.
- Must demonstrate an educationally and economically disadvantaged background.
- Must meet the gross income and asset guidelines established by the New Jersey Office of the Secretary of Higher Education/EOF Board of Directors.
- Provide proof of historical poverty; a minimum of at least 2 years of financial documents.
- Must file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) (Bloomfield College Federal School ID 002597). NJDreamers should complete the New Jersey Alternative Financial Aid Application
- Must meet with and EOF team member
2024-2025 EOF Income Eligibility Scale with Asset Cap Calculation
In order for students to qualify for New Jersey State aid, upon request, applicants must provide proof of verifiable income, such as U.S. Tax return transcripts, IRS wage statements, or proof of income through a federal or state agency, i.e. TANF, SSI, SNAP, etc.

Verification Process
- Complete your New Jersey Financial Aid System “To Do List” for State Grants and Scholarships.
- The EOF grant will be added to your Bloomfield student account once you have submitted all documents requested to by the Office of Student Financial Services and they can verify that your income & assets meet state requirements.

- What is the Bloomfield EOF Summer Program?
As a condition of your Admissions to Bloomfield College, all Bloomfield EOF students must attend the free Bloomfield EOF Summer Program. The Summer Program is an intensive academic program that will aid in the transition from high school to college. There is no cost for EOF-eligible students. EOF will provide text and summer tuition. - Is the Bloomfield Summer Program mandatory?
The Bloomfield EOF Summer Program is mandatory for all admitted Bloomfield EOF students. Students who do not attend the Summer Program may not attend Bloomfield College as a First-Year EOF student. There is no cost for EOF-eligible students. - What are the requirements to participate in the Bloomfield College EOF Summer Program?
You must be admitted to Bloomfield College through the EOF program. As an admitted student, you must confirm your attendance at Bloomfield College through the Bloomfield College deposit portal. Additionally, you must complete the EOF Eligibility Verification Process with the Office of Student Financial Services and submit the required Summer documents. - What classes will I take and will I receive credit?
Students will be enrolled in three courses (math, writing and First-year seminar) and will earn a total of 3 college credits. First-Year Seminar is designed to help you make a successful transition from high school to college. The course aims to foster a sense of community by promoting curricular and co-curricular engagement, helps develop and apply effective communication, metacognitive, and critical thinking skills, and will provide you with the knowledge, skills, and direction that will promote success in higher education. - What will a typical day look like?
Students will be enrolled in three courses and will earn a total of 3 credits. The first two classes will be held from 10 am-12:30 pm Monday through Thursday followed by a lunch break at 12 pm for a half-hour. Students will then return to class starting at 1 pm until about 4 pm. Students will then be scheduled for one on one meetings with their counselors and then have a dinner break. Upon return from the dinner break they may be scheduled for their weekly Summer Tutor Counselor meetings, or tutoring following by Summer Program social hour from 6-7 pm. Please note that all these requirements are mandated as part of the summer program.
