Hyundai Motor India Foundation, the corporate social responsibility (CSR) arm of Hyundai, has initiated the ‘Progress for Humanity’ program. This initiative aims to promote the socio-economic development of tribal communities and the preservation of cultural heritage. Advocating for the support of indigenous groups and the conservation of cultural traditions, the foundation underscores the importance of safeguarding these legacies for future generations, reported PTI.
In a recent statement, Hyundai Motor India Foundation highlighted its dedicated efforts to preserve various cultural heritages, including the ‘Kattaikuttu Sangam’ rural theatre form in Tamil Nadu, ‘Sohrai’ wall art in West Bengal, and ‘Ottam Thullal’ performance art in Kerala. These endeavors not only uphold India’s diverse cultural tapestry but also create livelihood opportunities for artists while enhancing their social well-being.
Puneet Anand, Associate Vice-President and Vertical Head of Corporate Affairs at Hyundai Motor India, emphasized the foundation’s commitment to social responsibility through its endeavors to uplift tribal communities and preserve India’s cultural heritage. He noted the foundation’s involvement in uplifting tribes such as the Chenchu Tribe in Andhra Pradesh and the Irula Tribe in Tamil Nadu by integrating them into afforestation projects, thereby empowering them economically and socially.
Anand remarked, “By engaging members of the Chenchu and Irula tribes in afforestation initiatives and appointing them as custodians, we not only contribute to their upliftment and well-being but also empower them to showcase their talents and preserve their traditions.”
