TEHRAN – Interim President Mohammad Mokhber has hailed the late Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian as a revolutionary diplomat who dedicated his efforts to the Axis of Resistance, expressing hope that his efforts would ultimately lead to the liberation of Al-Quds.
Mokhber made the remarks on Monday evening while visiting the family of Amir Abdollahian to offer his condolences.
Foreign Minister Amir Abdollahian lost his life in a helicopter crash on May 19. President Ebrahim Raisi, Friday prayer leader of Tabriz Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Al-e-Hashem, and Governor of East Azerbaijan Malek Rahmati were also on board.
The helicopter carrying the officials was on its way to Tabriz, the capital of East Azerbaijan, from a location on the border with the Republic of Azerbaijan where the Iranian president had opened a major dam project.
Mokhber remarked that although “the martyrs are no longer with us,” their martyrdom is an eternal honor earned through their sacrifices, and their legacy is one to be envied.
He emphasized the gratitude of the 13th administration and the people for the “martyrs of service,” highlighting Amir Abdollahian’s significant contributions during his tenure.
“His efforts strengthened Iran’s relations with neighboring countries, promoted regional stability, bolstered the Resistance Front, and exposed the crimes of the Zionist regime,” Mokhber added.
Describing Amir Abdollahian’s leadership in foreign policy, Mokhber noted his revolutionary approach, which not only improved Iran’s international relations but also brought stability to the region, earning him widespread acclaim from regional and global leaders.
“In recent months,” Mokhber stated, “as the world witnessed the atrocities committed by the Zionist regime, Amir Abdollahian tirelessly worked to build regional and international consensus against the occupiers of Al-Quds, delivering a significant blow to their oppressive regime.”
Mokhber also praised Amir Abdollahian’s role in the government, lauding his professionalism, humility, magnanimity, and unwavering attention to the directives of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution.
Mokhber asserted that the legacy of Amir Abdollahian would continue through the next generation of diplomats inspired by his example. He expressed confidence that Amir Abdollahian’s endeavors would one day lead to the liberation of Al-Quds.
In response to a surprise retaliatory operation by Palestinian resistance groups in the southern occupied territories on October 7, 2023, Israel has intensified its brutal attacks on Gaza.
Simultaneously, the regime has imposed a nearly complete blockade on the enclave, severely limiting the supply of essential goods such as food, medicine, electricity, and water to Palestinians.
During the ongoing war, the regime has caused the deaths of approximately 36,550 Palestinians, predominantly women and children, while another 82,959 Palestinians have been injured, according to the reports from Health Ministry in the battered enclave.
