Plenty of artistic talent on display in Marlfield area of Tipperary

Marlfield is not only a very picturesque village, it also has wonderful talent.

This talent was witnessed in the Marlfield Artists Exhibition held last month at Clonmel Library.

The exhibits were the creations of various artists, all from Marlfield and the surrounding area.

The work included landscape paintings, portraits, flora and fauna, seascapes and abstracts in oils, watercolours, slate pictures, pencil drawings and wood turned pieces.

There was a wonderful variation of styles.

The exhibitors were Mary Dahill, Mary Williams, Dolores Fennessey, Bartley Burke, Brendan Hogg, Mary Bridget Mackey, Catherine O’Gorman, Lisha Walsh, Deirdre Matassa, Anthony Mordaunt, Annie Hogg, Janet Lennon, Caroline Duggan, Ben Dromey and Jacqueline Gartlan.

Also on display were photographs from Marlfield National School.

Kindly on loan were samples of needlework, also from Marlfield school, and dating back to 1918, alongside watercolours painted in the 1920s by Lilla Perry, née Bagwell.

The exhibition was officially opened by Maureen Purcell, Organiser of South Tipperary Art Group (STAG).
