Independence Middle School held its annual Academic Excellence Recognition Program, celebrating students who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievements throughout the school year.
The program commenced with a warm welcome from Bethel Park school board member Mrs. Gail Hoppe, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and a stirring rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner. The event also featured a special musical selection by the talented Independence Singers and remarks from students Magnolia Cavagnaro (eighth grade) and Faribarz Barzin (seventh grade).
The seventh-grade students were the first to be recognized with the Distinguished Honors Awards for students who maintained a minimum 3.75 QPA through the first three nine-week academic quarters of the 2023-2024 school year.
