Nearly $35,000 Awarded To Local NonProfits Through Pierre/Fort Pierre Area Community Foundation, Youth Philanthropy Fund

PIERRE, (KCCR) — The Pierre/Fort Pierre Area Community Foundation and Youth Philanthropy Fund has distributed nearly 35-thousand dollars in grant funding to 21 non-profit groups and organizations in central South Dakota. The largest grant was awarded to Sleep In Heavenly Peace Incorporated of 10-thousand dollars. Grant awards range from 10-thousand to 250-dollars. A total of five grants were awarded from the Youth Philanthropy Fund. Pierre Post Prom was awarded 800-dollars with awards ranging from 800 to 250 dollars. Foundation Board President Kate Olson says the funds create a sustainable funding source for all local charitable causes and adds it’s important for residents to consider donations to the local foundations when making donations. Since their inception over a half million dollars has been awarded to local organizations through the two funds. The Pierre/Fort Pierre Area Community Foundation and Youth Philanthropy Fund work in partnership with the South Dakota Community Foundation.
