New American students tackle ethical leadership lessons thanks to Gannon University

About 70 students from Erie’s Public Schools gathered at a local university to build relationships and make connections.

Gannon University hosted a session bringing new American students together to talk about ethical leadership.

These students will learn and share their experiences with how to navigate the education system.

President Walter Iwanenko hopes the students build trust and realize that a lot of people are looking out for them.

“The students are navigating a new country and new language, so as they’re meeting their daily needs, sometimes it is tough to find time to talk about opportunities in higher education. We want to let them know that there are pathways, that there are people that they can talk to and that we’re here for them,” said Iwanenko.

President Iwanenko added the university will continue to do outreach within schools to let students know what’s available for them.
