ABOUT BUNDANON
Bundanon is an art museum embedded in a 1,000 hectare landscape, in the Shoalhaven region of NSW. The organisation’s mission is to operate the Bundanon properties as a centre for creative arts and education, to support the development of arts practice across all disciplines and to enable public access to the arts and to the landscape. Bundanon’s vision is to promote creativity and learning based in a unique cultural and natural landscape.
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Philanthropy Officer manages philanthropic operations by ensuring processes and procedures are in place to support Donor relationships and maintain accurate Donor records; enabling swift and effective Donor communication approaches. Collaborating with diverse teams, they should have an organisation wide understanding of programs with the need or potential to garner private funding or corporate support. Additionally, this role supports all of the organisation’s funding opportunities and implements fundraising campaigns, aimed at advancing Bundanon Trust’s philanthropic, corporate, and individual giving programs toward a sustainable future.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Philanthropic Operations
- Manage the donor CRM database and maintain accurate, up-to-date and secure Donor records, ensuring proper documentation of communications with Donors and prospects, and best-practice management of private information and security.
- Monitor pledge payments and annual giving programs.
- Collaborate with finance on payments, receipts and reporting ensuring compliance with legal and taxation requirements.
- Administer the Patrons and Bequests programs, including acknowledgments, communications, events and engagement.
Communications and Events
- Provide support for Donor relationship management and communications.
- Provide event support as required.
- Plan, ideate and support Donor and Patron events at Bundanon and other locations.
- Collaborate with Marketing and Communications on Donor and stakeholder communications and on organisation wide philanthropic messaging.
- Support in developing acquittal reports for funding received.
- Coordinate donor-centric collateral and execute strategic mailouts to communicate Bundanon’s philanthropic initiatives.
Research and Development
- Research and identify potential supporters; resources; funding, and partnership opportunities to contribute to Bundanon’s growth.
- Collaborate with various teams and other stakeholders to develop support documents, including budgets, funding applications, proposals, and acquittals.
- Identify corporate funding opportunities, prepare support applications, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to align diverse programs with potential sponsorship.
- Develop, implement and oversee fundraising campaigns in coordination with the Head of Development.
Stakeholder and Project Management
- Seek to understand all stakeholders (internal and external) needs and wants.
- Manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Ensure all deliverables are executed in line with agreed expectations.
- Maintain an organised and accessible filing system inclusive of archiving processes.
- Drive improvements to philanthropic activities and processes through continuous learning, meeting best-practice industry standards.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Essential
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline, such as business administration, communications, events and/or Relevant work experience within a fundraising team in the arts or related sectors.
- Excellent written and research skills, with attention to detail, including the ability to draft grant applications and Donor communications.
- Demonstrated technical experience across the Microsoft Office Suite and advanced functionality in using a client relationship management (CRM) system.
- Proven ability to manage projects in a timely manner and liaise professionally with stakeholders understanding the importance of discretion, protocols, and quality customer service.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills with the ability to develop and maintain constructive relationships with both internal staff and our highly valued partners and stakeholders.
- Understanding of ways in which to identify and build donor relationships with a commitment to advancing in a development career.
Desirable
- Familiarity with best-practice industry standards for philanthropic activities.
- Digital design capabilities within the Adobe suite.
