At the 34th National Canoe Sprint Senior Women and Men Championship in Bhopal, skilled athletes from Udaipur clinched two gold and two bronze medals. Athletes from the district, namely Harshvardhan Singh Shaktawat, Tanishk Patwa and Vagaram Bishnoi from Jalore, brought glory to the state by securing a total of 2 gold and 2 bronze medals.
The competition, disclosed by Dilip Singh Chouhan, Chairman of the Indian Dragon Boat, and Piyush Kachhawa, Chairman of the Kayaking Canoeing Federation, unfolded in Bhopal’s small pond. It was jointly organized by the Indian Kayaking Canoeing Federation and the Madhya Pradesh Kayaking Canoeing Federation.
In the Canoe Sprint men’s category, Harshvardhan Singh Shaktawat clinched the gold medal. He secured victory in the Kayak-1 500 meters race, completing it in an impressive time of 1.44.57 seconds.
Tanishk Patwa and Harshvardhan Singh Shaktawat, in the Kayak-2 mixed category, earned a bronze medal for Rajasthan by finishing the 25-meter competition in just 1.50 seconds. This achievement added glory to their performance in the championship.
In the Master category, Vagaram Bishnoi, hailing from Barmer, clinched the gold medal. He exhibited exceptional skills in the Canoe-1 event’s 200-meter competition, showcasing his talent and contributing to the success of the team. Coach Nishchay Singh and Chouhan shared that the athletes underwent training on Fateh Sagar Lake in Udaipur.
